The University of Pennsylvania commissioned Holland
Architects Ltd to convert an old dentist's office and dark open space
to a bright theater set design shop with classrooms and offices.
Along with the renovations to the space, an additional
entrance was required to provide code and ADA compliance. An approximately
20' by 20' addition with an elevator and stairs was designed to function
as a main entrance.
Both interior and exterior renovations were completed
in early 1998.
Services included complete HVAC and power displacement,
sprinklers for storage of set materials and costumes, offices, costume
shop, and an electrical shop.
