Residence
Winchester, Massachusetts

The addition was built originally as a mother-in-law apartment just off the main house kitchen. It is currently used as a guest and family room.

Since the site did not allow an addition off the rear the next best place was the side of the front. The position of the addition created the opportunity for a protected porch with best view of the large front yard.

The design intent of the exterior was to match style and material and not detract from the original Dutch Colonial Victorian house built in about 1880.

Materials consist of stained cedar shake, split face block, and typical asphalt roofing.
