Designing a research facility in the University of
Pennsylvania's Hayden Hall gallery resulted in a unique and beautiful
space to work in. The space came with a 25 foot high ceiling and plenty
of windows.
The challenge was to divide the space into graduate
and undergraduate labs with different access privileges while adding
to the grand space aesthetically.
The solution used the large space as an"outside." The
space was subdivided with capped walls which visually enclosed the
rooms. The plan tied the rooms together with continuous space.
